THROWING PROGRAMS
By: Seth Simmons
Want College Exposure? Sign-up for our Summer Showcase June 29!

We live in a world now where results have to be instant.  We NEED SUCCESS NOW!  Win a trophy every weekend, throw harder, hit it further.  This couldn’t be farther from the truth, especially when it comes to building your throwing program and throwing routine.  The main problems I see with throwing programs don’t actually fall on the program or the instructors implementing the programs (for the most part).  It falls on the player.  Picking up a throwing program and after a 6 week trial run, you decide its not working.  As a player you are actually setting yourself up for more failure.

Once you decide to go in on a throwing program or a total performance program in general, you should always be honest and open about the results.  What worked? What didn’t work?  The throwing program that has some magical formula that is going to take a player from an average player to a great player does not exist.  There needs to be tweaks to it periodically and adjustments made to the overall program.  Just like you as a player are no where near a finished product, neither is your routine and program.

Here are a few things you can ask yourself before saying a program did or did not work:

How does my body feel day to day?

Overall has my stuff changed? Do you feel as if there is more life and bite to your pitches?

Did you follow the program and do it daily?

Overall are you a better player from where you started?
