What’s the outlook on the Cougars? What’s the strength’s of this year club?
After winning the MEC and coming up short in the 3A State Championship in 2022, we are working to pursue the same goals of winning our conference and a State Championship. I believe our strengths going into this season will be defense and team speed.”

What are some key games on this year’s schedule?
Playing in one of the toughest baseball conferences in NC, all of our MEC games will be dog fights. I truly believe any team in our conference can win on any given night.

Who are some names on the Cougars 2023 roster we should look for?
We return our top hitters in MLB prospect and Carolina commit Walker Jenkins, Methodist commit Banks Hartman and Luke Dilgard (Jr). Look for big season from other returns such as Jaden Marvin (Jr), Patrick Boldt (Jr), Dow Pender (Sr), Jordan Daniels (Jr), Landon Lynch (Sr), Will Lamiman (Sr) and Grady Sotriffer (Fr).

When thinking about South Brunswick baseball, what’s one word that comes to mind?
When thinking about South Brunswick Baseball I think of the word Gritty.

What’s a typical practice look like for the Cougars?
For a daily practice at South, we do team stretches, team baserunning drills and then get our arms loose. Afterwards, we go into defensive fundamental drills and then into a team defensive session. After defense we roll into offensive stations/bp, utilizing both the field and the indoor hitting facility while our pitchers are getting their bullpen work in.
