IMPACT Summer Showcase – Top 10 Prospects

It was great to see all the players and college coaches out at our first summer showcase of the year. We had about 100 players in attendance and many of them really shined during the event! Big thank you to all the players and parents for attending.

In this article I’m going to break down my opinion of the Top 10 Prospects based off of what I saw at the showcase. This is not based off of what I may have seen in the past, strictly what I saw on the day. Also, you’ll find results on each player over the next few days – stay tuned for more.

Top 10 Prospects

1. Josh Foulks, OF, NW Guilford HS – 2022 Grad
Foulks is an impressive athlete! Strong body and a bag full of tools. He ran a 6.63 sixty with long, easy strides and he can really throw. He was 91 mph from the outfield during the workout. Foulks has bat-speed and power from the right-side. 97 mph exit velocity during BP. This guy has a chance to make an impact at the Division I level.

2. Noah Hertzler, RHP, Broadway HS – 2022 Grad
Big, power righty with a lively 89-91 mph heater. Hertzler flashed some really good sliders/slurves in the 76-77 mph range. Tight spin and late bite – 2520 spin rate. The right-hander definitely got everyone’s attention at the showcase!

3. Thomas Bowman, OF, Wesleyan Christian – 2022 Grad
You just don’t see many kids run a 6.47 sixty – and Bowman did it in style today on turf. Good athlete with adequate arm strength (81 mph) from the outfield. Short, quick swing from the left-side. 88 mph exit velocity during BP. Exciting player to follow and see for sure!

4. Brycen Coleman, C, Topsail HS – 2022 Grad
Ran a serviceable 7.69 sixty but shined behind the plate and during BP. Good arm behind dish (77 mph) and flashed POP times in the 2.0 range with accuracy. Coleman is a scary dude at the plate from the right-side. He punished balls during BP with an exit velocity of 92 mph. There is some serious thunder in his bat.

5. Trenton Doss, OF, Oak Grove HS – 2022 Grad
Another outstanding outfield prospect at the showcase! Speed & power combo. Doss is a monster at 6-4/215 lbs. Built like a linebacker – he ran a 6.72 sixty and raked at the plate during BP. Exit velocity of 94 mph. He also showed plenty of arm (84 mph) from the outfield as well.

6. Evan Bert, RHP, Harrisonburg HS – 2022
Athletic righty in the 87-89 mph range with his fastball – 2300 spin. He showed two different shaped breakingballs in the bullpen – both in the mid-70’s. Curveball had 2500 spin rate. Ran a 7.27 sixty. Bert left a positive impression on all the college coaches and our staff today.

7. Stephen Kriner, OF, Freedom Christian – 2023 Grad
Speedy 2023 outfielder – ran a 6.75 sixty and showcased 81 mph arm strength from the outfield. Strong, athletic build. Impressive round of on-field beeps! 88 mph exit velocity and hard, consistent contact. Definitely an exciting young player to follow!

8. Luke Thomas, OF/RHP, Providence Grove HS – 2022 Grad
Best 2-way player at the showcase in my opinion – Ran a 6.82 sixty and was 85 mph from the outfield. Good athlete with great lettuce under the cap! Hammered balls in BP with an 85 mph exit velocity. From the bump he was 81-83 mph with a very workable curveball at 70 mph (2400 spin). Well-built kid with tools!

9. Evan Sykes, INF, Southern Alamance HS – 2022 Grad
Took some of the best BP and showed one of the best right-handed swings at the event (100 players). He smoked balls all over the field – 85 mph exit velocity. Good hands in the infield and strong, accurate arm. Most likely a college thirdbaseman down the road. Ran a 7.37 sixty.

10. Will Papciak, RHP/3B, Wesleyan Christian – 2023 Grad
Pitch-ability righty in the 84-87 mph range with command. Curveball needs a little tightening up (67 mph) but flashed downward tilt. Good frame with plenty more room to fill out. He’s a RHP in college for sure but don’t sleep on the bat! He hit some of the hardest balls during BP – 90 mph exit velocity.
