We have entered into the world of instant results. Everything we see on Social Media or TV is about a hitters mechanics. One coach thinks it should be this and another says it should be that. I have said this about good hitters from the very first time I started to work with guys. “The reason he is such a good hitter is because he hits all the time”. He understands his movements and what his body feels like when he takes a good swing or a bad swing, the feel of the swing. If you are going to be good at anything you have to be able to feel for yourself what is good and what is bad. You have to “buy in” to what you think is going to give you success. You should not be waiting around for a coach to tell you that it was good swing. Good coaches are there to guide you and tweak you. Good hitters know and understand their own swings first, but they also have a system in which they have used to get where they are. Many of them call it a routine. You should have a pre-game cage routine at home games and a routine for when you are on the road. You should have a routine for BP on the field or when you are playing in the summer and you can only have cage BP. The routine will allow you to get yourself ready to play and it will allow you to get some swings in a focused environment. I have attached some Drills that you can possibly use to create your own routine as a hitter. You have to create what works for you and also fits into the time schedule that you have during your season. Some things may take longer and you can use the longer routine when you have more time. These are just Ideas that can be tweaked and used by each individual player. Some of the things may not work the same for every guy. BUILD YOUR OWN ROUTINE!!!!
