Impact Team Tournament (November 7-8)
November 3, 2020ID Camp Breakdown – November 15
November 18, 2020By: Trey Daly
Impact Baseball ID Camps are back and boy are we fired up to be back on the field! Sunday, November 8th was a great day at Swepsonville Ball Park for the players and impact staff.
Our ID Camps have been a big hit with college coaches. We’ve been flooded with player information requests from college coaches at all different levels. I’ve said it many times, if you are a good player and you are not getting recruited it’s likely because college coaches just don’t know who you are yet. Attending one or more of our ID Camps is a sure-fire way to be evaluated by people who can help you start the recruiting process. If you can play – we can help you.
Like always, in this article I’m going to break down my opinion of the Top 5 Prospects based off of what I saw at the ID Camp. This is not based off of what I may have seen in the past, strictly what I saw at camp. Also, you’ll find results and more opinions based on several other categories below.
*If you are a talented middle school or high school baseball player, we’d love to see you at our next ID Camp! [Click Here for more information]
*College Coaches/Professional Scouts: If you have any questions or need any information on any of these players, please contact us!
Top 5 Prospects
1. Cooper Allen, INF/RHP, Wake Forest HS – 2023 Grad (Pictured)
Needless to say, Cooper did alot of things well during November 8th Impact ID Camp. Mr. Allen is an athlete! You can throw Allen anywhere on the diamond and the athleticism will take over. With him being just a sophomore in high school, he will be a name to keep a close eye on as he continues to develop. In the box, Cooper is a right handed hitter that shows bat speed and strength in the swing.
2. Mason Lynch, OF.C, RHP, Rockingham HS – 2022 Grad
Watching Mason during this weekend’s camp, you can tell he’s a big part of the success over at Rockingham High School. Mason looks to be very comfortable in whatever role he’s throw into whether it’s pitching, catching or playing the outfield. Nothing like having a player on your team that can do multiple things well, it’s a coaches dream.
3. Jayden Singleton, OF, Myers Park – 2022 Grad
When I hear Jayden’s name for years to come, I will remember him from this camp. He’s a strong, physical kid who has loads of projection. In the box, Jayden has some violence in the swing that has the ability to spray the ball from gap to gap. The best part of Jayden is the best days of his career are yet to come. Once strength really gets added to the frame, it will be a guy to see.
4. Lane Herndon, INF/RHP, Garner – 2023 Grad
When swinging the stick, Lane projects as a corner infielder (in my opinion). Where I really like Mr. Herndon is on the mound! Herndon has a strong lower half and clean and easy arm action. His fastball would touch 82 mph on the afternoon and showed feel for a 75 mph CH & 65 mph slider. Lane is just a 2023 graduate, so he will be fun to watch as he continues to develop.
5. Michael Griffin, RHP, Apex Friendship – 2023 Grad
Another impressive young guy at this weekend’s camp. Michael impressed me on the mound, as you can tell he has feel for what he’s doing up there. His fastball would reach 79 mph on the afternoon and would be in the zone alot. He shows clean mechanics and loose arm action.
“Just missed” Top 5
Nicholas Edwards, INF, Broughton – 2022 Grad
Being around Mr. Edwards, the guy bring tons of energy and enthusiasm when playing the game. Give me this guy in my lineup, he makes players around him better! In the infield, he shows good range and very good feet/hands in the middle of the diamond.
