Today we traveled down to Holly Springs, North Carolina to sit down with Rod Whitesell. Coach Whitesell is the head coach of the Holly Springs High School Hawks.  The Hawks are one of the most consistent programs in North Carolina High School baseball year in and year out. What’s the outlook on the Golden Hawks? What’s the strength’s of this year club?
I think we will compete in our league, and have a chance to get better as we go. Solid group, just not a lot of experience yet. Pitching and defense will be our strengths, if the bats can come along, we can be a very tough team come May.

What are some key games on this year’s schedule?
Middle Creek, Cary, Apex Friendship, any team in the tough SWAC, top to bottom best league int the state.

When thinking about Holly Springs baseball, what’s one word that comes to mind and why?
Compete!!! I feel like we go out and compete every day as a team. We don’t back down from a challenge and are willing to take and answer everyone’s best shot.
